Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood was born September 7,
1987, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her father Ira David Wood III is a stage
writer and actor, and her mother Sara Wood is an actress and acting coach. She
is the daughter of Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David Wood III, an actor. Evan
and her brothers have occasionally performed in the Theatre In The Park in
Raleigh where her father founded and for which he serves as executive director.
At the age of five she was screened against Kirsten Dunst for her lead part in Interview
with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994) following a lengthy audition
process. With her mother and brother Ira moving to Los Angeles in 1996. Since
her arrival, she has had successes in TV series films on TV as well as feature
films. She appeared in Practical Magic (1998), as Al Pacino’s daughter. The
comedy S1m0ne(2002) was followed by Thirteen (2003) featuring Holly Hunter. Her
performance as Tracy in "Thirteen," which she starred in the film,
earned her a nomination at the Golden Globes for Best Performance by an
Actress: Drama, as well as a nomination from Screen Actors Guild Award for
Outstanding Performance By an Actress of Female Character in a Leading Role.
When she received the award from SAG and was the youngest actress to be nominated
in the Leading Role category. Her role as Veda Pierce in the HBO mini-series
Mildred, Pierce (2011) was rewarded with an Emmy nomination and the Golden
Globe award. Also, she received praise for her stunning performance as
Stephanie, Mickey Rourke's estranged daughter, in the Darren Aronofsky film The
Wrestler (2008). Sara Wood and Ira David Wood III are her parents. Ira David
Wood IV's younger sister and Dana's younger sister. A dancer who has been
trained. She loves to dance, sing, rollblade, and even horseback ride. She is
the black belt for tae do. Keeps in touch with most of her Once and Again
(1999) co-stars: Mischa Barton, Julia Whelan as well as Shane West.
